Fans of Netflix’s hit supernatural comedy ‘Wednesday’ have more to celebrate. The streamer has officially renewed the Jenna Ortega-led series for a third season, setting the stage for more spine-chilling adventures and quirky charm.
The announcement, made via the show’s official Instagram handle, was met with excitement from fans who have been eagerly awaiting updates. Comments flooded the post, with users expressing their anticipation: “So exciting,” wrote one user, while another added, “I can’t wait to watch Season 2 & Season 3.”
According to an ANI report, the renewal comes even before Season 2’s release, which is scheduled to drop on August 6. This early greenlight reflects the show’s massive popularity. Season 1 became Netflix‘s most-watched original series ever, amassing over 250 million views globally. It also scored big during awards season, earning 12 Emmy nominations, including a nod for Ortega in the Lead Actress in a Comedy Series category.
‘Wednesday’ follows the darkly witty adventures of Wednesday Addams, played by Ortega, who is expelled from her school and sent to a private academy for outcasts. The ensemble cast features Gwendoline Christie, Emma Myers, and Riki Lindhome. Myers, notably, has risen to stardom following the show’s success and now headlines the BBC and Netflix adaptation of ‘A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’.
Season 2 promises even more intrigue with Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo all becoming series regulars. New additions to the cast include Billie Piper, Steve Buscemi, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor.
With an ever-expanding cast and deepening narrative, ‘Wednesday’ continues to solidify its place as a cultural phenomenon and a cornerstone of Netflix’s original programming.
