As 2025 reaches its halfway mark, IMDb has unveiled its definitive lists of the Most Popular Indian Movies of 2025 So Far and the Most Anticipated Indian Movies Releasing July–December 2025, offering a snapshot of what audiences across the globe are watching and eagerly waiting for. Based on actual page views from more than 250 million monthly users worldwide, these rankings are a reflection of genuine viewer interest — not critical ratings or box office numbers.
According to a Telegraph report, Laxman Utekar’s historical epic ‘Chhaava’, starring Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, and Akshaye Khanna, currently leads as the most popular Indian film of the year so far. “We’re honored that Chhaava has topped the IMDb list. What makes this recognition truly special is that it comes directly from the fans,” Utekar said in a statement, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming love from audiences.
Joining ‘Chhaava’ in the top 10 are titles spanning multiple genres and languages, including ‘Dragon’, ‘Deva’, ‘Raid 2’, ‘Retro’, ‘The Diplomat’, ‘L2: Empuraan’, ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’, ‘Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh’, and ‘VidaaMuyarchi’. To qualify for the list, each film had to have a rating of 6 or above and at least 10,000 user votes, with IMDb determining popularity based on consistent global page views.
Looking ahead to the rest of the year, IMDb’s Most Anticipated Indian Movies list is equally exciting, with Coolie leading the pack. The list also includes ‘War 2’, ‘The Raja Saab’, ‘Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan’, ‘Saiyaara’, ‘Baaghi 4’, ‘Son of Sardaar 2’, ‘Hridayapoorvam’, ‘Mahavatar Narsimha’, and ‘Alpha’ — all films that have maintained a high level of user interest even before their release.
