Tata Play Bollywood Masala is rolling out the red carpet for Bollywood’s original glam queen, Karisma Kapoor, with a specially curated movie marathon to mark her birthday.
The channel is set to celebrate the legacy of the 90s icon by showcasing her most memorable performances every night at 8 pm starting June 23, bringing fans a burst of nostalgia, star power and signature Lolo sparkle.
According to a press release from Tata Play, the week-long programming is a tribute to Karisma’s versatile filmography — one that defined the era of Bollywood dance numbers, comedic gold, and emotionally rich storytelling. The actress, known for her fierce girl-next-door charm, impeccable comic timing, and infectious screen presence, remains a loved figure in Hindi cinema.
Among the featured films is ‘Mere Jeevan Saathi’, a romantic thriller that dives into themes of passion and obsession. Starring alongside Akshay Kumar and Amisha Patel, Karisma brings a powerful emotional range to the film, setting the tone for the week’s tribute.
Also airing is the cult favourite ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, which remains one of Bollywood’s most quoted comedies. In this film, Karisma shares the screen with Raveena Tandon, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan, delivering both beauty and comedy in equal measure. Her chemistry with the ensemble cast and effortless charm continue to earn the film its legendary status.
Another highlight is ‘Biwi No. 1’, where Karisma stars as the dignified-yet-dynamic wife navigating infidelity and heartbreak. Opposite Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen, her portrayal strikes a balance between humour and vulnerability, reaffirming her dominance in both commercial blockbusters and character-driven roles.
For fans eager to see her in a different light, ‘Baaz: A Bird in Danger’ offers a suspenseful turn. This lesser-known thriller allows Karisma to step away from glamour and into a fierce, survival-driven role, demonstrating her range and willingness to take risks.
And for those who want to relive her early days, ‘Jigar’ takes viewers back to her beginnings opposite Ajay Devgn in a revenge-action drama laced with martial arts. The film captures her early promise and marks her emergence as a leading lady in the high-octane 90s landscape.
