Actress and filmmaker Divya Khossla is all set to headline a new dark comedy thriller, an untitled film that promises to blend biting humour with suspenseful storytelling.
The project, helmed by acclaimed director Umesh Shukla, is slated for release later this year and is being produced by Prerna Arora, best known for backing critically and commercially successful films such as ‘Rustom’ and ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’.
As per an IANS report, the film will see Divya taking on a genre she has long been interested in. “I am really excited about this film. I have always been keen on attempting a dark comedy. When the script came to me, I grabbed it. It also has a subtext of thriller. So, it is going to be a highly entertaining film,” she said, expressing her enthusiasm for the role.
The film is being made on a modest-yet-substantial budget estimated at Rs 15–20 crore, and marks another unique narrative choice from Umesh Shukla, who has previously directed thought-provoking entertainers like Oh My God and 102 Not Out. With his knack for weaving social themes with humour, audiences can expect a story that’s both entertaining and layered.
Divya Khossla, directed such popular films like ‘Yaariyan’, ‘Sanam Re’, and most recently, ‘Savi’. With each project, she has shown a willingness to explore different genres and narratives.
