National Geographic, known for its majestic wildlife storytelling, is flipping the script with a fresh, funny and wildly unconventional new series titled ‘Underdogs’, which is narrated by none other than Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds.
Launching June 19, the five-part series will air every Thursday and Friday at 8 pm on National Geographic, and promises to shine the spotlight on the unsung, often misunderstood misfits of the animal kingdom.
Backed by Reynolds’ Emmy Award-winning Maximum Effort and Wildstar Films, ‘Underdogs’ dives into the eccentric and oddly admirable lives of animals who rarely find themselves in the nature documentary spotlight. From awkward mating rituals to oddball superpowers and questionable parenting techniques, the series serves up a hilarious yet heartfelt look at the wild’s weirdest wonders.
“It’s been a dream come true working with National Geographic on ‘Underdogs’— mostly because I can finally watch a project of ours with my children,” joked Reynolds, Executive Producer at Maximum Effort, “Technically, they saw ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’, but I don’t think they absorbed much while covering their eyes and ears and screaming for two hours. We’re so proud to elevate the unsung heroes of the natural world to the top of the entertainment food chain and can’t wait for everyone to see.”
