Malika Malhotra joins NDTV, to anchor new show

NDTV has welcomed seasoned anchor and reporter Malika Malhotra to its editorial team, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to authentic, impact-driven journalism. With close to ten years in the field, Malhotra brings a deep sense of purpose to her storytelling — one that centres on people and their lived experiences.

In a press note shared by NDTV, the network said Malhotra’s arrival will strengthen its editorial direction and bring “honest, grounded” journalism into sharper focus. Known for her field-first approach, Malhotra’s work has consistently reflected empathy, perseverance, and a drive to report beyond headlines.

One of her most recognised assignments was during the farmers’ protest at the Singhu border, where she reported from the ground for 100 consecutive days. Her daily coverage, often lasting up to twelve hours, was marked not only by journalistic rigour but by the trust she built with protestors and the sensitivity she brought to their stories. Similarly, her follow-up reporting on the Joshimath land subsidence — long after the issue had faded from mainstream coverage — showcased her commitment to returning to communities still grappling with the aftermath of a disaster, highlighting ongoing concerns and unaddressed needs.

Speaking on her new role, Malhotra said, “NDTV has always felt like a space that values calm, clarity, and connection. For me journalism is not about being part of the noise, it’s about getting closer to what really matters. That’s the kind of journalism I have always believed in. Audiences today aren’t just looking for news. They want insight, honesty, and a voice that speaks for them — not to them. NDTV has consistently built that trust. I am proud to be part of it.”

Rahul Kanwal, Group CEO and Editor-in-Chief at NDTV, welcomed her to the network, stating, “We are very happy to welcome Malika to the NDTV family. She represents the kind of journalism we believe in — honest, grounded, and connected to real people. Her presence will add tremendous value to our editorial direction.”

Malhotra is set to lead a new show on NDTV India, details of which will be announced shortly. The show will focus on relevant, relatable, and deeply reported stories from Bharat, told with a steady tone and a thoughtful perspective — hallmarks of her journalistic style.

Her induction is in line with NDTV’s editorial vision: to slow down in an era of noise, amplify voices that are often overlooked, and invest in journalism that brings audiences closer to stories that truly matter.
