Prime Video has named Nicole Clemens as VP and head of International Originals for Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, effective July 7.
The appointment was announced by Kelly Day, VP of Prime Video International, following a comprehensive search for the new leadership role, entertainment news outlet Variety reported yesterday.
Clemens joins Prime Video from Paramount Television Studios, where she most recently served as president. In that capacity, she oversaw the development and production of several high-profile series that have found homes on Prime Video, including ‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan’, ‘Reacher’, and ‘Cross’,” the Variety report added.
Her tenure at Paramount also included a dual role as President of Original Scripted series for Paramount+, where she helped formulate the programming strategy for the streamer’s launch, the report explained.
Meanwhile, according to her LinkedIn profile, she led a team across business affairs, legal, production, development, current programming, labour and marketing, ensuring seamless alignment across all operational and creative functions.
At Paramount, she also strengthened relationships with third-party buyers and oversaw end-to-end content development and production of hits ‘13 Reasons Why’ and ‘The Haunting’ anthology series, George Clooney’s ‘CATCH-22’ on Hulu and ‘The Spiderwick Chronicles’ onRoku to name a few. These resulted in diverse partnerships, critical acclaim and strong financial performance for both the studio and platforms.
“Nicole is a highly respected and experienced media executive,” the Variety report quoted Day as saying in an internal announcement to Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios teams, adding, “I’m delighted to share that she will be joining us to lead our international original teams, which will continue building on the incredible success we’ve seen with global audiences.”
Clemens has also done successful stints at Anonymous Content, FX, ICM Partners and Motion Picture Literary, apart from being a literary agent from 1996 to 2007.
