Gulshan Verma has taken on a new leadership role at Amazon, joining the company as Director for Amazon Ads. He shared the news of his appointment through a post on LinkedIn, marking another significant milestone in a career that spans nearly three decades across technology, media, and advertising.
Before joining Amazon, Verma served as the CEO of JioAds from August 2021 to May 2025. During his tenure, he led the platform’s expansion across connectivity, content, and commerce, establishing JioAds as a formidable player in India’s digital advertising ecosystem. His leadership was instrumental in integrating advertising solutions across Reliance’s growing digital portfolio.
Verma brings with him a wealth of experience in managing technology-led P&Ls, marketing strategies, media operations, and international business development. He has worked extensively across the USA, Europe, and Asia, taking on key roles in both industry and strategy consulting.
In his earlier stint with Disney+ Hotstar, Verma played a pivotal role in scaling the advertising business. He was responsible for the entire Hotstar Ads division, which included sales strategy, operations, branded content initiatives under Hotstar Brand Lab, AdTech and data partnerships, and ROI measurement. Under his leadership, the ad sales team grew tenfold—from just 14 members to a robust 140-person team.
His career began in 1996 at the Associated Press as a Budget Accountant and Marketing Analyst. Since then, Verma has worked with marquee names including McKinsey & Co., Yahoo, Ernst & Young, Komli Media, Outbrain, Times Internet, and International Management Group—earning a reputation as a versatile and future-focused media executive.
