Avinash Tiwary, known for his standout performance in ‘Madgaon Express’, and Medha Shankr, who won hearts with her role in ‘12th Fail’, are all set to bring a fresh twist to the beloved rom-com franchise ‘Ginny Weds Sunny’.
The duo has been officially announced as the lead pair for ‘Ginny Weds Sunny 2’, the sequel to the 2020 romantic comedy that starred Yami Gautam and Vikrant Massey.
As per the announcement made by the makers on Wednesday, the film is currently being shot in the picturesque locales of Uttarakhand. The sequel is written and directed by Prasshant Jha and produced by Vinod Bachchan under the banner of Soundrya Production.
In a quiet but exciting reveal, both Avinash and Medha took to Instagram to share a photo of the clapboard from the film’s set, confirming their association with the project. The post quickly caught fans’ attention and sparked curiosity around how the new chapter in the ‘Ginny Weds Sunny’ saga will unfold.
The first Ginny Weds Sunny released in 2020 during the pandemic and found its audience on OTT, with its mix of humour, romance, and quirky matchmaking drama. With a new lead pair and a fresh narrative, the sequel aims to recreate the charm while introducing a brand-new story set against a contemporary backdrop.
While further details about the storyline and supporting cast are still under wraps, expectations are high, especially with the rising popularity of both lead actors and the enduring fondness for romantic comedies in Indian cinema.
With filming underway and an anticipated release in 2026, ‘Ginny Weds Sunny 2’ promises to offer a refreshing blend of romance, laughter, and modern-day relationship dilemmas—all wrapped in scenic visuals and heartfelt moments.
