In a stunning revelation at the ongoing WAVES 2025 Summit, megastar Amitabh Bachchan announced his entry into the world of AAA gaming as the co-founder of Tara Gaming Studios, India’s ambitious new venture in the global gaming industry.
Making the announcement to thunderous applause, Bachchan also unveiled ‘Age of Bhaarat’, the studio’s flagship AAA title—an epic mythological adventure set to redefine India’s presence in narrative gaming.
The actor, who has long been associated with pushing boundaries in entertainment and technology, said the foray into the AAA gaming space stemmed from a desire to blend India’s rich heritage with the power of immersive storytelling. “Gaming is not just about play—it’s about culture, identity, and imagination. ‘Age of Bhaarat’ is our dream of telling India’s stories at a scale never imagined before,” Bachchan told a packed hall during the summit’s marquee session.
‘Age of Bhaarat’, built on a cutting-edge Unreal Engine, promises a cinematic single-player experience rooted in Indian mythology, valor, and lore. The trailer, launched live on stage, featured intense battle sequences, richly detailed ancient landscapes, and a protagonist inspired by India’s epic warriors. The game, according to studio insiders, has been in development for over 18 months and is expected to release in late 2025 across PC and consoles.
Tara Gaming, co-founded by Amitabh Bachchan alongside a team of veteran developers and media entrepreneurs, aims to put India on the global gaming map. Its mission: to build culturally-rooted, world-class games that rival the best in the industry. “We don’t want to catch up with the world. We want the world to follow our stories,” one of the studio’s co-founders said on stage.
The announcement drew excitement from across the entertainment and tech ecosystem at WAVES 2025. With the Indian gaming industry growing at double-digit rates and a rising demand for localised premium content, Tara Gaming’s arrival has already been called a “game-changer” by analysts.
The four-day WAVES Summit, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 1, continues to spotlight India’s creative economy and innovation potential, bringing together leaders from film, gaming, music, tech, and policy under one roof.
