Popular social media platform Snapchat has reached a new milestone, surpassing 900 million monthly active users worldwide. The announcement comes at a time when the platform is doubling down on its Gen Z-first approach and rolling out several new features designed to enhance user experience and creator engagement.
As per details shared on Snapchat Newsroom, the company revealed the numbers during its latest Partner Summit. Snapchat now boasts a global community that opens the app an average of 40 times per day, with over 5 billion Snaps created daily. This growth is largely attributed to its expanding user base in regions like India, where Snapchat has more than 200 million monthly active users and continues to be one of the top platforms for young audiences.
The platform, known for its disappearing messages and augmented reality filters, has steadily transformed into a major hub for creators, advertisers, and users looking for more intimate digital interactions. Its Spotlight feature, which serves short-form viral content, now garners more than 400 million monthly active users. Additionally, creator earnings through Spotlight have exceeded USD 250 million globally, highlighting the app’s commitment to empowering content creators.
Snapchat’s success also comes from continuous innovation in AR tools and camera experiences. With new AI-powered lenses, Bitmoji enhancements, and features like Communities that focus on colleges and educational spaces, the company is expanding its reach far beyond casual social networking.
Evan Spiegel, CEO of Snap Inc., said in the announcement that the company remains committed to building products that serve real friendships and foster creative self-expression. He added that the platform is uniquely positioned to grow with its young user base and support the next generation of storytellers and digital creators.
As the competition in the social media space intensifies, Snapchat’s continued growth and emphasis on safe, creative, and immersive experiences places it firmly in the race with giants like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
