The release date for Rajkummar Rao’s much-anticipated political thriller ‘Maalik’ has officially been moved to July 11, 2025.

The makers announced the update earlier today, confirming that the film, which was initially slated for a June release, will now hit cinemas mid-July to ensure a wider theatrical reach and stronger promotional campaign.

According to a PTI report, the decision to shift the release came after consultations with exhibitors and distributors, who believe the new date will offer the film a better box office window. Directed by Pulkit, ‘Maalik’ stars Rao in a gritty, intense avatar as a grassroots political figure navigating corruption and power struggles in rural India.

The film has already generated considerable buzz, not just for Rao’s transformative look but also for its gripping narrative, which reportedly takes inspiration from real events. This marks yet another socially-driven character for the National Award-winning actor, who has become known for his choice of bold, content-heavy cinema.

Speaking about the release change, a spokesperson from the production team said, “We are committed to giving Maalik the release it truly deserves. With July 11 now locked in, we look forward to engaging audiences with a powerful story told through Rajkummar’s exceptional performance.”

Produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, and Bhushan Kumar under Balaji Motion Pictures and T-Series, the film also features Sharib Hashmi and Raghubir Yadav in pivotal roles. The team is expected to launch a new trailer and music closer to the release date to build excitement among viewers.
