Nawazuddin Siddiqui is stepping into an action-packed avatar as a fearless customs officer in his upcoming film ‘Costao’, set to release in cinemas on May 1.
Known for his intense and layered performances, Siddiqui promises a thrilling ride in this edge-of-the-seat drama that blends high-stakes smuggling operations with emotional grit and real-world challenges.
Directed by Sameer Joshi, ‘Costao’ is set against the gritty underbelly of India’s coastal borders, where corruption, power games, and trafficking converge. Nawazuddin plays Vikrant Deshmukh, a sharp-witted, morally uncompromising customs officer who leads a relentless battle against a powerful smuggling syndicate. As he uncovers a wider conspiracy, the line between duty and personal vendetta begins to blur, PTI has reported.
This isn’t just another cat-and-mouse chase. At its core, ‘Costao’ is a story of one man’s fight to uphold the law in a system weighed down by compromise.
“Vikrant is not your average hero. He doesn’t wear a cape or speak in monologues—he lets his actions do the talking. What drew me to this role was his quiet rebellion and unshakable integrity,” Nawazuddin shared in a recent interview.
The cast also includes Sayani Gupta as an investigative journalist who teams up with Vikrant in pursuit of the truth, Rajesh Tailang as the seasoned intelligence officer navigating bureaucracy and Shiv Panditt as the unpredictable antagonist who runs the smuggling network.
Director Sameer Joshi, in his feature debut, says ‘Costao’ will reflect the pulse of today’s India.
