India’s first private sector DTH platform, Dish TV, has obtained an in-principle approval from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for provisional license with effect from April 1, 2021.
In a notice to the stock exchange BSE yesterday, the company said the 20-year approval was subject to certain conditions.
What are the conditions? The following:
# The company shall enter into an agreement with MIB, Government of India, containing terms and conditions of the ‘Guidelines for obtaining license for providing Direct to Home (DTH) Broadcasting services in India’, as amended up to 30.12.2020 .
# Dish TV shall obtain and submit with MIB other necessary clearances as envisaged under the DTH guidelines.
# The company shall provide a bank guarantee in terms of the DTH guidelines.
#The DTH operation of the company will be undertaken under the new DTH guidelines.
