To honor the legacy of Raj Kapoor, the ‘Greatest Showman of Indian Cinema,’ multiplex operator PVR Inox is hosting the Raj Kapoor Film Festival from December 13 to 15, 2024, across 101 cinemas in 34 cities.
The festival marks the 100th birth anniversary of the legendary filmmaker, celebrating his timeless contributions to Indian cinema.
Audiences will have the rare opportunity to relive Kapoor’s iconic films on the big screen, including:
• ‘Awaara’ (1951)
• ‘Shree 420’ (1955)
• ‘Sangam’ (1964)
• ‘Mera Naam Joker’ (1970)
• ‘Bobby’ (1973)
• ‘Ram Teri Ganga Maili’ (1985)
Kapoor’s works, known for their poignant narratives of societal transitions and universal themes, continue to resonate with audiences worldwide. His films, often seen as cultural milestones, reflect his visionary storytelling and artistic brilliance.
Kapoor, who debuted as a director with ‘Aag’ (1948), was the recipient of numerous accolades, including the Padma Bhushan and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. His films, remastered for the festival, offer a chance for both new and longtime fans to experience the grandeur of his storytelling.
