Fans of ‘Mirzapur’, one of India’s most iconic crime thriller series, are in for a treat as ‘Mirzapur: The Film’ is officially set to premiere in theatres in 2026.
Produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment, the film will expand the dark, action-filled universe of ‘Mirzapur’ beyond the OTT platform, promising an elevated experience in cinemas. Directed by Gurmmeet Singh and created by Puneet Krishna, the film will bring back beloved characters Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi), Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal), and Munna Tripathi (Divyenndu) for an even grander narrative, the platform said in a press release.
Following its theatrical run, ‘Mirzapur: The Film’ will be available to Prime members in India and over 240 other regions globally, eight weeks after release, allowing fans worldwide to dive deeper into the series’ gripping world.
Manish Menghani, Prime Video India’s Director of Content Licensing, expressed enthusiasm for bringing ‘Mirzapur’ to the big screen. “Mirzapur has carved a special place in the hearts of Indian audiences with its memorable characters and powerful storytelling. Taking this story to theatres is our way of celebrating the fanbase that has supported it so fervently,” he stated.
Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar of Excel Entertainment added, “Turning ‘Mirzapur’ into a film is a milestone for us. With three successful seasons, the series has struck a powerful chord with audiences. This cinematic extension will bring the raw intensity of ‘Mirzapur’ to an even broader audience.”
With its rich blend of suspense, drama, and crime, ‘Mirzapur: The Film’ aims to deliver an unforgettable experience that builds on the success of the streaming series while offering fresh thrills for both existing fans and new viewers.
