Vijay Rawat, a seasoned journalist who transitioned to the social sector, has been appointed as the CEO of Katori Food Pvt. Ltd., an FMCG brand dedicated to marketing products made by rural women.
Katori Food aims to empower women in rural areas by offering a platform to sell their handmade products, fostering economic independence.
Rawat’s journey into the social sector began after leaving his position as Multimedia Head at Zee News one and a half years ago. He joined the Manjari Foundation as Head of Communication, an NGO that focuses on women’s empowerment across Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. The foundation, led by Sanjay Kumar, a Ford Foundation Fellow, helps rural women establish microenterprises, selling their products under the Katori brand.
In his new role as CEO, Rawat will continue to oversee communications at the Manjari Foundation while leading Katori Food Pvt. Ltd., balancing both responsibilities to uplift rural communities.
Throughout his career, Vijay has worked in prominent positions, including Senior Associate Editor at Bluecraft Digital Foundation, a policy research organization and technical partner of Prime Minister Modi’s Mann Ki Baat and Exam Warriors book. His earlier roles include Output Head positions at Jan Sandesh, India News Haryana, India TV, and TV9’s Bollywood channel Lehren.
Vijay holds a Master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Makhan Lal Chaturvedi University, Bhopal, and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Delhi University.
His new role as CEO signifies a blend of his experience in journalism and dedication to social causes, driving the mission of Katori Food to bring rural women to the forefront of economic empowerment.
