Netflix has officially greenlit ‘Love Untangled’, a Korean youth romance set in 1998.
The film delves into themes of first love, friendship, and self-acceptance, with the story revolving around 19-year-old Park Se-ri and her quest to straighten her curly hair before confessing her love.
Along the way, she becomes entangled with transfer student Han Yun-seok, adding an unexpected twist to her plans.
The film boasts an ensemble of rising stars, Gong Myoung (Citizen of a Kind, Killing Romance) plays the aloof yet caring transfer student, Han Yun-seok, who supports Se-ri in her journey.
Shin Eun-soo (Twinkling Watermelon, Vanishing Time) portrays Park Se-ri, a high school girl struggling with her curly hair while mustering the courage to confess her feelings.
Cha Woo-min (Weak Hero Class 1) takes on the role of Kim Hyeon, Se-ri’s crush and the most popular student at school.
Youn Sang-hyun (Doctor Slump) as Baek Seong-rae, Se-ri’s desk mate and confidant.
Kang Mi-na (Café Minamdang) plays Ko In-jeong, Se-ri’s friend and rival who knows the secret to perfect straight hair.
The film is directed by Namkoong Sun, known for her award-winning work, including ‘Worst Friends’ and ‘Time to Be Strong’. Her distinct storytelling style will bring depth and warmth to this coming-of-age romance, capturing the unpredictability of teen love and friendship.
Produced by bombaramfilm, the studio behind ‘Kim Ji-young: Born 1982’, ‘Love Untangled’ promises an authentic, nostalgic experience for audiences.
