Hit crime comedy series ‘Only Murders in the Building’ has been renewed for a fifth season by American streaming service Hulu. In India, it streams on Disney+Hotstar.
The renewal came a week after the premiere of season four of the show, starring Steven Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez in lead roles, a PTI report from Los Angeles, quoting Variety, stated.
The series follows Charles Haden-Savage (Martin), Oliver Putnam (Short) and Mabel Mora (Gomez), three neighbours in a New York City apartment called the Arconia, who come together to record a true crime podcast about the murder of a fellow resident.
Entertainment outlet Deadline has reported that the series so far has earned 49 Emmy Award nominations across three seasons, most recently 21 nods in multiple major categories including Best Comedy Series, Best Lead Actor for Martin and Short, Best Lead Actress for Gomez and Best Supporting Actress for Meryl Streep.
Season 4 premiered on August 27 with new episodes dropping weekly on Tuesdays, ending with the finale on October 8. The Deadline report added that returning stars include Martin, Short, Gomez, Streep, Michael Cyril Creighton, Jane Lynch and Da’Vine Joy Randolph.
The show comes from co-creators and writers Martin and John Hoffman. Season 4 executive producers include Hoffman, Martin, Short, Gomez, Dan Fogelman and Jess Rosenthal.
