Rajkummar Rao has unveiled his upcoming film ‘Maalik,’ an action thriller directed by filmmaker Pulkit. The project, produced by Tips Films and Northern Lights Films, was teased by Rao on his social media handles on Friday.
The actor shared a poster for the film and announced that shooting has officially begun, PTI reported from Mumbai.
In ‘Maalik,’ Rao will take on the role of a gangster, marking his entry into a high-octane action genre. The actor shared his excitement on social media, writing: “Welcome to the world of #Maalik. The shoot has begun, and we will meet soon.”
Pulkit, known for directing the investigative drama ‘Bhakshak’ starring Bhumi Pednekar and ‘Dedh Bigha Zameen’ featuring Pratik Gandhi, is helming the project. ‘Maalik’ is produced by Kumar Taurani under the Tips Films banner, alongside Jay Shewakramani’s Northern Lights Films.
Rajkummar Rao is currently enjoying the success of ‘Stree 2,’ the sequel to his 2018 hit ‘Stree,’ which also features Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee. The film has grossed over Rs 600 crore globally.
In addition to ‘Maalik,’ Rao’s upcoming projects include ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video,’ co-starring Triptii Dimri.
