The eagerly awaited Hindi feature film ‘Kooki’, produced in Assam, is set to captivate audiences at the Cannes Film Festival 2024. The screening of ‘Kooki’ is scheduled for May 21 at Palais H, announced in an official statement on Saturday, IANS reported.
Expressing her gratitude, producer Junmoni Devi Khaund remarked, “I am deeply honored for the opportunity to debut ‘Kooki’ at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. This platform not only celebrates cinematic art but also amplifies voices addressing vital global issues.”
Highlighting the film’s significance, Khaund emphasized its urgent call for international attention and dialogue on pressing matters. “Our film addresses critical issues and warrants a global audience for awareness and impactful change. It’s a dream come true for any filmmaker to showcase our story on such a renowned stage,” Khaund added.
‘Kooki’ portrays the struggles, love story, and cultural nuances faced by a non-Assamese girl, providing a glimpse into Assamese culture. The film boasts the involvement of established Bollywood actors and Assamese artists, adding depth and authenticity to its narrative.
As anticipation builds for its Cannes premiere, ‘Kooki‘ promises to captivate audiences worldwide with its poignant storytelling and rich cultural tapestry.
