Actor Ayushmann Khurrana has been enlisted by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to advocate for youth participation in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The 39-year-old star is featured in a campaign video by the ECI, urging youngsters to exercise their voting rights.
Khurrana, renowned for his roles in acclaimed films like ‘Andhadhun’ and ‘Dream Girl’, emphasized the importance of youth engagement in shaping the nation’s future. He, according to a PTI report from New Delhi, stated, “Everyone must vote and be conscious citizens by participating in the process of nation-building.”
Highlighting the significance of each vote, Khurrana remarked, “Voting is a symbol of empowerment in a democratic nation like ours.”
Santosh Ajmera, Director of Voter Education at ECI, lauded Khurrana’s support for the campaign, aimed at combating apathy among urban and young voters. He commended Khurrana’s impactful portrayal in the campaign, stating that it resonates well with the younger generation.
The Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be conducted in seven phases starting from April 19, with the vote counting set for June 4.
