Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt has joined Emmy Award winner Richie Mehta’s crime drama series, ‘Poacher’, as an executive producer.
The upcoming Amazon original, based on true events, is set to premiere on Prime Video on February 23. It explores the largest ivory poaching ring in Indian history, PTI reported from Mumbai.
Bhatt, through her production banner Eternal Sunshine Productions, expressed her excitement about contributing to a project with a powerful narrative addressing wildlife crime.
She stated, “The impact of ‘Poacher’ was deeply personal, and Richie’s portrayal of the urgent issue of wildlife crime resonated strongly with me and the team.”
The crime drama, produced by QC Entertainment, aims to shed light on brutal crimes in Indian forests. Bhatt emphasized her confidence that ‘Poacher’ will serve as an eye-opener, delivering a powerful message urging compassion and coexistence with all living beings.
QC principals Edward H Hamm, Raymond Mansfield, and Sean McKittrick welcomed Bhatt to the project, stating, “Alia coming on board Poacher is truly a dream come true. In addition to being a world-class actress, she has proven to be a selfless philanthropist.”
