In the midst of a high-stakes election week encompassing crucial states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana, Aaj Tak asserted its dominance as the leading Hindi news channel, per BARC India’s Week 49’23 data.
During the four-week rolling average from weeks 46 to 49, Aaj Tak clinched the top spot with an impressive 13 percent market share, accumulating 77,585 Gross AMA’000 viewers. Hot on its heels were TV9 Bharatvarsh and News18 India, closely securing the second and third positions with 12.9 percent market shares and notable viewership figures of 77,016 and 76,877 Gross AMA’000 respectively.
However, the highlight of Aaj Tak’s triumph unfolded on December 3, 2023, the pivotal counting day for the state elections, specifically during the crucial time frame of 0700-1200 hrs. Aaj Tak fortified its lead with a commanding 16.2 percent share, amassing 5466 Gross AMA’000 viewers during this critical period, solidifying its position as the go-to channel for election coverage.

The landscape during this crucial time was a testament to Aaj Tak’s prowess, although other notable channels made their mark. India TV closely followed with a 13.9 percent share, while TV9 Bharatvarsh and News18 India maintained strong positions at 12.5 percent and 12.1 percent respectively.

The rankings also included ABP News with a 9.8 percent share, Republic Bharat with 8.4 percent, Zee News with 5.8 percent, Times Now Navbharat with 5.7 percent, and other channels rounding off the list with varied percentages.

Aaj Tak’s commanding performance during this pivotal election day reaffirms its stronghold in delivering comprehensive and engaging coverage during crucial national events, solidifying its position as a leader in Hindi news broadcasting.
