ZEE Biskope, a Bhojpuri channel, is set to break stereotypes this Chhath Puja with its special event ‘Jai Chhathi Maai‘.
Unlike the conventional norm of women observing the Chhath Puja vrat (fasting), this year’s unique concept features Bhojpuri superstar Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua taking on the challenging 36-hour fast himself. The event aims to showcase the sincere devotional spirit behind Chhath Puja, challenging societal norms.
According to a Zee Biskope press release, this festival, which is deeply rooted in the cultural fabric of Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh, is celebrated with great fervour and involves rigorous fasting in homage to Surya Dev and Chhathi Maai.
‘Jai Chhathi Maai’ not only promises a star-studded lineup with Bhojpuri superstars Nirahua and Amrapali Dubey, but also brings a musical narration act symbolizing the rich cultural nuances of the region.
The event, scheduled for November 18 at 7 pm, is part of the channel’s broader initiative, ‘Ghar Parivar Chhath Tyohaar,’ celebrating Chhath Puja with family. Alongside the special event, ZEE Biskope is hosting a week-long movie festival, ‘Ghar Parivar Chhath Tyohaar,’ from November 13 to 17, featuring family-oriented blockbusters in prime time from 6 to 9 pm.
To enhance viewer engagement, the channel is organizing the ‘Chhathi Maai Uphaar Barsayi’ contest, inviting viewers to participate by watching festival movies and identifying celebrities. Daily winners will receive smartphones, while those participating in the event on November 18 stand a chance to win grand prizes such as a home theatre system, fully automatic washing machine, and a 43-inch smart TV.
Samrat Ghosh, Chief Cluster Officer – East, ZEEL, expressed excitement about the unique concept and the channel’s commitment to delivering authentic and curated content. With major brands like Colgate, Emami, Nestle, Fortune, and Dazzler Eterna already on board, the event is poised to be a grand success.
Amarpreet Singh Saini, Chief Channel Officer, Bhojpuri cluster, emphasized the channel’s dedication to providing a holistic entertainment package beyond movies.
