SonyLIV has announced that it would discontinue live channels from the platforms, a move that has irked premium consumers.
In a notification to subscribers, SonyLIV said, “With effect from August 30, 2023, live TV channels will no longer be available on Sony LIV. However, the individual programmes and select movies, which are broadcast on linear channels shall continue to be made available to you as per your subscribed pack.”
Observers have said that the move could mean that many shows and programmes, especially live sporting events, would not be available on SonyLIV platform, though they could be seen on Sony’s linear TV channels.
“Apart from this change, there is no impact on any other offerings on SonyLIV. Accordingly, we have updated SonyLIV’s Terms of Use which will come into effect from August 30, 2023,” the streamer said.
