Set-top-box maker SmarDTV Global Technology Pvt Ltd has announced the appointment of Rajiv Khattar as a consultant.
Khattar, a seasoned media industry veteran with 30 years of experience in cable and satellite industry, is also a regular Indianbroadcastingworld.com columnist, writing on important industry issues ranging from STBs, satellite TV tuners and spectrum.
According to a media statement issued, Khattar pioneered the STB manufacturing in India in the early 2000s and SmardTv will be leveraging his vast experience to serve the Indian market and take advantage of the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative in the field of STBs and other consumer-premises equipment.
Presently, SmarDTV manufactures boxes for Sun Direct, a leading DTH service provider.
SmarDTV is a human scaled company specialized in designing and developing secure digital devices and solutions to worldwide pay TV operators.
Khattar’s experience of the Indian market would be useful as not only he has expertise in government relations, but also in the corporate world. He has held senior positions as President in Dish TV, President (South Asia) at ABS Global Ltd, a leading satellite company, Executive Vice President at Siticable Networks Ltd, apart from other leadership positions in various companies.
He possesses a wide range of experience covering business, technology, operations, regulatory and strategy development and has worked in emerging markets like Indonesia, the Philippines, Mongolia and Sri Lanka.
