Oscar winner Rami Malek has been cast as Buster Keaton in Warner Bros Television’s limited series about the vaudeville-turned-silent comedy movie star.
According to PTI, the project is being produced by filmmaker Matt Reeves’ 6th & Idaho Productions, Malek, and David Weddle. It is unknown whether The Batman director will also direct the series.
Ted Cohen, an Emmy winner, is in talks to write and executive produce. Buster Keaton: A Filmmaker’s Life, written by James Curtis, is being considered as the show’s source material.
The studio is currently negotiating adaptation rights for the book.
Keaton was known for his deadpan expression. Some of his notable films include The Playhouse, Cops, The Electric House, Sherlock Jr, and The General. He received an Academy Honorary Award in 1959.
