Even as the flip-flops and drama continues at the now Elon Musk-controlled Twitter, India’s Koo has hit the gas pedal to woo subscribers on the back of its inclusive, secure, easy-to-use and free-to-access platform available on web and mobile applications.
The app is available in 20+ global languages, including English, French, German, Italian, Indonesian, Spanish, Portuguese, Thai, Vietnamese, Korean, Turkish and Hindi. Many new global languages will be launched soon, the company said.
Koo App is the world’s second largest micro-blogging platform with multilingual capabilities, an official press release from the micro-blogging website said. The Bengaluru-based company is backed by Tiger Global and Accel Partners and, according to reports, is valued at over $ 275 million as of November 2022.
Koo recently achieved 60 million downloads worldwide. The platform is all set to increase its footprint globally with a very strong proposition that will include a feature that enables users to migrate from Twitter to Koo and a free self-verification tool that can verify their humanness within seconds, the media statement said.
The company has made it easier than ever to migrate from Twitter with the ability to import tweets and follower lists from Twitter to a Koo account, eliminating the need to start from ground zero.
Koo’s proprietary feature called Multi-Language Kooing allows users to post simultaneously in several world languages emulating Koo’s goal to drive digital inclusion.
For instance, a French user will now be able to speak to a Brazilian and a Brazilian will be able to interact with a German in their respective languages. This doesn’t happen anywhere on the internet, the company claimed.
Mayank Bidawatka, Co-founder, Koo, said in a statement, “Our mission is to unite the world despite its language barriers, and are the most inclusive social media platform in the world. Users looking for Twitter alternatives will feel familiar when they use Koo. We have retained the core functionality that they are used to with micro-blogs while adding many new features that they will love. Koo is the future of micro-blogging.”
