Deepika Padukone will join Rohit Shetty’s cop universe in his upcoming film ‘Singham Again’, the director confirmed on Thursday.

The actor-director duo previously collaborated on 2019’s action comedy ‘Chennai Express’ and most recently on the song ‘Current laga’ from Shetty’s upcoming venture ‘Cirkus’, led by Ranveer Singh.

Padukone’s casting was announced by the director at the launch event for the special track, which features her alongside husband Singh.

“Everybody keeps asking me when I’ll introduce ‘Lady Singham’. So, here it is. Deepika Padukone will be the Lady Singham in ‘Singham Again’. She is my lady bomb from the cop universe, and we’re going to start working together on it next year,” the filmmaker said.

‘Singham Again’ is the third film in the ‘Singham’ series, fronted by Ajay Devgn. Singh, who is also part of the cop universe as ‘Simmba’, said working with his real-life partner and frequent co-star Padukone is a lot of fun, PTI reported from Mumbai.

Padukone, who has starred with Singh in ‘Ram-Leela’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and ‘Padmaavat’, said they believe in being professional on sets.

‘Cirkus’ is based on William Shakespeare’s classic play ‘The Comedy of Errors’.

The movie, presented by Bhushan Kumar led T-Series, also features Varun Sharma, Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez, Siddhartha Jadhav, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, and Vrajesh Hirjee, among others.

It is scheduled to be released on December 23.
