The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has directed all the broadcasters to comply with new tariff order i.e NTO 2.0 by August 10 seeking details of channels and bouquets holding information such as name, nature, language, MRP of channels and bouquets per month which is being sought by TRAI. They have also been asked to amend their Reference Interconnect Offer (RIO) in compliance with the provisions of the January order. In order to promote orderly growth of the sector and to balance the interests of service providers and to safeguard the interest of the consumers the Authority mentioned that it is necessary to give effect to Tariff Order Amendment 2020 and Interconnection Amendment Regulations 2020 without any further delay. Therefore the Authority issued directions to ensure compliance of various provisions of the Telecommunication (Broadcasting and Cable) Services (Eighth) (Addressable Systems) Tariff (Second Amendment) Order, 2020, dated January 1, 2020, and the Telecommunication (Broadcasting and Cable) Services Interconnection (Addressable Systems) (Second Amendment) Regulations, 2020, dated January 1, 2020.
