The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued an advisory to distribution platforms to submit details to pubcaster Prasar Bharati about data on carriage of Sansad TV (Parliament TV) on their respective networks.
“It has come to the notice of this Ministry that MSOs are not furnishing the requisite LCN data to Prasar Bharati (regarding Sansad TV carriage) in spite of several emails or follow- ups. Further, it has also been noticed by this Ministry that e-mail/contact details of some of the MSOs have not been updated by them in the Ministry’s record due to which MSOs could not be contacted,” MIB said in an advisory issued Monday.
Under the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995, the government had mandated that 25 Doordarshan channels and Sansad TV (SD, Sansad TV-HD and Sansad TV-Rajya Sabha channels) are to be mandatorily carried by every cable operator on their cable television networks.
Prasar Bharati, DD’s parent, has been entrusted with the task of monitoring of carriage of these mandatory channels by distribution platform operators(DPOs/LCOs) on their networks.
“All DPOs/LCOs are advised to provide LCN data of Mandatory channels to Domestic Distribution wing of Prasar Bharati/ Staff of Prasar Bharati…on fortnightly basis. Further, all DPOs/LCOs are also advised to update their e-mail ID/contact details in the records of this Ministry failing which necessary action as per the provisions of the CTN Act, 1995 and Rules framed thereunder will be taken against the defaulters,” the advisory said.
