Singer-actor Ashanti has signed on to play the lead in the rom-com feature ‘The Plus One’.
Ashanti, whose film credits include ‘John Tucker Must Die’ and ‘Resident Evil: Extinction’, will also produce the upcoming movie.
Ashanti will play Lizzie, whose only request of her ‘Male of Honor’ Marshall is that he doesn’t bring his hated ex Marie to her destination wedding. But lovesick Marshall brings her as his plus one, and Marie does everything in her power to wreck Lizzie’s big day, PTI reported from Los Angeles.
Austin H Garces and Brendan Bradley serve as writers on the film, while Director and additional casting are being kept under wraps.
Danny Chan, Danny Roth, David Yates, and Demetrius Spencer are also attached to produce the film. Executive producers are Almost Never Films, Tina Douglas and Stephan Dweck.
Filming is scheduled to take place in Florida in December.
