Amazon has shared a guide for fans who want to watch all ‘The Lord of the Rings’ films and series on Prime Video. The collection includes the original ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy, ‘The Hobbit’ trilogy, the series ‘The Rings of Power’ and the animated film ‘The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim’.
According to an Amazon statement yesterday, viewers can watch the franchise in two ways: release order or chronological order. The guide also explains which titles are included with a Prime membership and which are available at an additional cost.
The original ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy includes ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’, released in 2001, ‘The Two Towers’ and ‘The Return of the King’. The films follow Frodo Baggins and his companions as they try to destroy the One Ring. All three films are available to rent or buy on Prime Video at an additional cost.
The guide also includes ‘The Hobbit’ trilogy, which consists of ‘An Unexpected Journey’, ‘The Desolation of Smaug’ and ‘The Battle of the Five Armies’. These films follow Bilbo Baggins and his journey to help reclaim the lost kingdom of Erebor. All three titles are available to rent or buy on Prime Video at an additional cost.
Meanwhile, ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ explores the Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of years before the events of ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’. The first two seasons are available on Prime Video with a Prime membership. The third season is scheduled to premiere on November 11.
Another title in the collection is the animated film ‘The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim’. Released in 2024, the film is set around 200 years before the events of the original ‘The Lord of the Rings’ and ‘The Hobbit’ trilogies. It follows Héra, the daughter of King Helm Hammerhand, as she leads the resistance against a dangerous enemy. The film is available to rent or buy on Prime Video at an additional cost.
For viewers who prefer release order, Amazon suggests starting with ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’, followed by ‘The Two Towers’ and ‘The Return of the King’. After that, they can watch the three ‘The Hobbit’ films, followed by ‘The Rings of Power’ and ‘The War of the Rohirrim’.
For chronological viewing, viewers can begin with ‘The Rings of Power’, followed by ‘The War of the Rohirrim’. Next, they can watch ‘The Hobbit’ trilogy and then the original ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy.
