Bharti Airtel has launched three voice-and-SMS-only prepaid recharge plans starting at Rs 185. The plans offer calling and SMS benefits without bundled mobile data, giving customers more options if they do not need internet services on their mobile connection.
According to a PTI report yesterday, the new plans are priced at Rs 185, Rs 203 and Rs 206. All three offer unlimited local, STD and roaming calls, along with 300 SMS. The plans are available on Airtel’s app and website.
The Rs 185 plan comes with a validity of 28 days, while the Rs 203 plan is valid for 30 days. The Rs 206 plan offers one-month validity and renews on the same date in the following month. All three plans also include free HelloTunes, allowing users to set a new caller tune every 30 days at no extra cost.
The plans are aimed at customers who mainly use their phones for calling and messaging. These include feature phone users, people using a secondary SIM for calls and customers who rely mainly on Wi-Fi for internet access. The shorter-validity options also allow users to make smaller recharge commitments.
The launch follows a directive from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). In September, the regulator directed telecom operators to offer separate special tariff vouchers for voice calls and SMS at reduced tariffs, without bundled mobile data.
