Dr L. Murugan, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, has resigned from both his ministerial positions and his membership of the Rajya Sabha. He has expressed his desire to return to grassroots-level politics and dedicate his full time to strengthening the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu ahead of the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.
According to a News On AIR report, Dr Murugan conveyed his decision in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday.
In the letter, he said that his journey from being the son of daily-wage labourers to serving in the Union Council of Ministers under the Prime Minister’s leadership had been the greatest privilege of his life.
He also expressed his intention to return to grassroots politics, stand alongside party workers and focus on strengthening the BJP in Tamil Nadu.
He said he wished to dedicate himself full-time to the party’s organisational work in the state ahead of the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.
