Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has made his debut on LinkedIn, turning the spotlight on his business ventures and ambition to help build Indian sports brands for global markets. The cricketer has joined the professional networking platform to highlight his roles as an investor in Agilitas Sports and co-founder and co-creator of one8world.
In his introductory post, Kohli outlined his vision of building an end-to-end sports ecosystem in India, spanning manufacturing, consumer brands and sports distribution. He said he wanted to see an India where every sport was followed, celebrated and played, adding that a new generation of athletes was showing the country’s ability to produce world-class sporting talent and build brands for international markets.
“That’s why I’ve joined Agilitas as an Investor and as a Co-founder and Co-creator of one8world,” Kohli wrote.
His LinkedIn debut highlights his business interests beyond cricket and brand endorsements, as he looks to contribute to the growth of homegrown sports and lifestyle businesses.
Kohli said one8 was built on the belief in pushing boundaries, raising standards and doing things differently. He also described the launch of one8world in his home city, in front of thousands of people, as one of the most meaningful moments of his life.
“The vision is clear. It’s time to build something that will outlive all of us,” he wrote, outlining his long-term ambitions for the ventures.
Agilitas Sports operates in the sportswear and activewear segment, while one8 is associated with Kohli’s consumer lifestyle business interests. His LinkedIn profile identifies him as a professional athlete with the Indian cricket team, co-founder of one8world and investor in Agilitas Sports.
LinkedIn India country manager Kumaresh Pattabiraman also welcomed Kohli to the platform, highlighting the growing trend of professionals expanding their presence beyond their core careers.
Kohli’s move reflects a broader shift among athletes towards entrepreneurship and equity ownership, with many looking beyond sponsorship deals to investments and brand creation. LinkedIn provides a platform to connect with entrepreneurs, industry leaders and potential business partners while sharing perspectives on leadership and business development.
With more than 185 million members in India and over one billion worldwide, LinkedIn offers Kohli access to a large professional network. His debut also signals his intent to build a stronger presence in the business world, with a focus on creating ventures that can grow beyond his cricketing career.
