Indian girl group W.i.S.H. is back with two new songs, ‘Kasoor’ and ‘Doori’. The four-member group, featuring Ri, Zo, Sim and Suchi, explores two different sides of love through the contrasting tracks.
According to a press release issued by W.i.S.H today, ‘Kasoor‘ focuses on the exciting and playful side of attraction. Produced by Mikey McCleary, the song captures the feeling of knowing that someone is completely drawn to you. The track has been released with both audio and video, while ‘Doori’ adds a darker and more emotional side to the story.
The music video for ‘Kasoor’ is set inside a grand Rajasthani palace, where the four members take part in a mysterious Ouija ritual. Each girl places an object representing her deepest wish. Their wishes then begin to come true, bringing fame, love, luxury and other things they desire.
However, the fantasy soon takes a darker turn. Chains, thorns, slamming doors and other mysterious moments begin to appear, showing that every wish comes with a price.
‘Doori’ takes the story in another direction, focusing on loss and heartbreak. Together, the two songs present two sides of the same emotional story, exploring desire, fantasy and the consequences of getting what you wished for.
Talking about their comeback, W.i.S.H. said the two songs gave them an opportunity to experiment with music, choreography and the visual world. The group also said they wanted ‘Kasoor’ and ‘Doori’ to feel like two parts of the same story rather than separate releases.
Since their debut, W.i.S.H. has been building its identity in India’s pop music scene. The quartet has developed its own style through music, performances and its growing fan base, while taking inspiration from global pop and working towards creating a distinct I-pop sound.
With ‘Kasoor’ and ‘Doori’, W.i.S.H. enters a bigger, darker and more cinematic world, where a wish can bring both happiness and unexpected consequences.
