Google has brought Gemini in Chrome to Android users in India, making the AI browsing assistant available on Android along with its existing desktop availability. The company has also expanded its Auto Browse feature to desktop and Android users in India who have Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra subscriptions.
According to a Google Blog yesterday, Gemini in Chrome can help users explore the web without switching between different tabs. It can summarize long articles, answer questions about webpages and connect with Google apps such as Google Keep and Calendar.
The AI assistant can also help users create and customize images while browsing using Google’s Nano Banana technology. Gemini in Chrome was already available on desktops in India and has now been extended to all Android users in the country.
With Auto Browse, Gemini can handle certain everyday tasks that require multiple steps. Google said the feature can help users book parking for an event, fill out a long form or order groceries for the week.
Google said Auto Browse has been designed with security in mind. Its AI models are trained to identify known online threats, including prompt injection attacks. The feature also keeps users in control by asking for confirmation before completing some sensitive tasks.
However, Gemini in Chrome on Android is initially available in US English and UK English, with Google planning to add more languages. The Auto Browse feature is also currently limited to devices set to English, with support for more languages planned in the future.
