Amitabh Bachchan recently revealed on ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ Season 18the reason behind his iconic hairstyle and long sideburns.
According to a SET press release, the conversation began when contestant Vinamra spoke about his grandfather, who was a film distributor. He recalled that his grandfather had advised him to keep long sideburns like Bachchan, whose signature look had become a symbol of his stardom.

Bachchan then shared that the hairstyle came from the challenges he faced when he was starting his film career.

He said producers initially felt that his height was too tall and that it could make it difficult for him to work with heroines. They also felt that his face looked very small.

He explained that he grew his hair and kept it up to his temples to make his face look fuller.

The look later became one of his most recognisable styles and went on to become a trend among generations of fans.
