The ‘Game of Thrones’ franchise is heading to the big screen with ‘Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest’. The film, which will be the first feature movie set in the fictional world of Westeros, is scheduled to hit theatres worldwide on June 6, 2029.
According to a PTI report from Los Angeles today, Owen Harris, who has directed episodes of HBO’s ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’, will direct the film. Beau Willimon will write the screenplay. He is known for creating the political drama ‘House of Cards’ and writing for ‘Andor’.
Details about the film’s plot are currently limited. However, the movie is expected to follow Aegon I Targaryen, the founder of the Targaryen dynasty, and his conquest of Westeros.
The story will be set several centuries before the events of the original ‘Game of Thrones’ series, which ran for eight seasons on HBO and later spawned spin-off shows including ‘A House of the Dragon’ and ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’.
