Sony AATH is bringing a new unscripted comedy cooking show, ‘Raandhuni Na Kaanduni’, to regional audiences, with actor Ankush Hazra taking on hosting duties. The show, which brings together food, humour and a line-up of popular Bengali personalities, will premiere on October 3, 2026, at 9.30 pm on Sony AATH and Sony LIV.
According to a press release, Sony AATH said the show introduces an original format that combines celebrity cooking with comedy and unpredictable situations. The announcement was made through an immersive ‘Kitchen Takeover’ for media and content creators in Kolkata, offering guests a glimpse of the food, celebrity banter and culinary chaos that will form the core of the show.
Hosted by Ankush Hazra, ‘Raandhuni Na Kaanduni’ features a diverse ensemble cast including Kanchan Mullick, Sreemoyee Chattoraj, Iman Chakraborty, Rupanjana Mitra, Darshana Banik, Prerna Das, Ushasi Ray, Sushmit Mukherjee, RJ Sayan Ghosh, Anwesha Hazra and Soumitrisha Kundu. Chefs Doma Wong and Priyam will bring their culinary expertise to the show.
The format puts familiar faces in an unfamiliar setting, with the celebrities stepping into the kitchen and taking on cooking challenges. The concept revolves around the contrast between the ‘raandhunis’ and the ‘kaandunis’, where cooking does not always go according to plan but the entertainment continues.
The Kolkata launch event offered guests a preview of this combination of cooking and comedy, with the cast coming together for an interactive kitchen experience. The format aims to keep the focus on the personalities of the participants, their chemistry and the unexpected moments that emerge when they take on culinary challenges.
Speaking about the show, host Ankush Hazra said the concept immediately stood out to him because it brings together people audiences already know and love and places them in a completely unfamiliar environment. He added that the diverse ensemble brings different personalities, humour and energy into the kitchen, making the experience unpredictable for both the participants and viewers.
Chef Doma Wong said the show is as much about the joy of cooking as it is about the people and laughter surrounding food. According to her, the cast gets an opportunity to experiment and have fun in the kitchen, resulting in a mix of successful dishes, unexpected creations and chaotic moments.
For Ambesh Tiwari, Business Head, Sony YAY! and Sony AATH, ‘Raandhuni Na Kaanduni’ is part of Sony AATH’s broader expansion into original unscripted entertainment, alongside its existing fiction and other content offerings. He said food and humour are deeply rooted in Bengali culture and that bringing the two together with familiar personalities from Bengal gives the channel an opportunity to create a locally relevant entertainment property.
Staying true to its tagline, ‘হাসির আঁচে জমবে রান্না’, which brings together the ideas of laughter and cooking, ‘Raandhuni Na Kaanduni’ promises a kitchen where recipes can take unexpected turns, celebrity chemistry takes centre stage and every cooking challenge can turn into a full-fledged ‘kaand’.
‘Raandhuni Na Kaanduni’ premieres October 3, 2026, at 9.30 pm on Sony AATH and Sony LIV.
