Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has given a world exclusive interview to India Today TV on the sidelines of the ongoing BRICS Summit in New Delhi. The interview was conducted by Geeta Mohan, Group Editor, Foreign Affairs, India Today Group.

According to a press release shared by the India Today Group, Pezeshkian spoke about the rising tensions in West Asia and their wider global impact. The interview will be telecast at 8 PM on India Today and Aaj Tak.

Pezeshkian said the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is linked to an end to US blockades. He also said regional foreign ministers are meeting in Oman to prepare a maritime framework aimed at restoring global shipping routes.

The Iranian President ruled out direct negotiations with the US for now, citing the assassinations of senior Iranian leaders as a major barrier to peace talks. He also warned neighbouring Arab countries hosting US military bases that facilities used to launch attacks against Iran could remain targets for Iranian strikes.

Pezeshkian described actions by the US and Israel as ‘state terrorism’. He also addressed Western allegations about Iran’s nuclear ambitions and claims regarding the country’s dependence on Russian and Chinese military intelligence.

The Iranian President also spoke about Iran’s internal affairs and its role in BRICS. He said Iran’s Supreme Leader remains active and continues to have the final authority over state decisions. Pezeshkian also highlighted BRICS as an important platform for Iran and its partners amid US sanctions and economic pressure.
