Nana Patekar-starrer ‘The Confession of Mary’ is set to be screened at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film will be presented at the international film festival.
According to an ANI report from Mumbai, the film stars veteran actor Nana Patekar in the lead role. ‘The Confession of Mary’ is based on a real-life case from Kerala.
The story is linked to the 1966 Madatharuvi murder case. The case involved the death of a woman named Mariyakkutty, whose body was found near the Madatharuvi stream in Ranni, Kerala.
The case attracted attention after a Roman Catholic priest, Father Benedict Onamkulam, was arrested in connection with the murder. The case later became one of the subjects of public and legal discussion in Kerala.
‘The Confession of Mary’ explores this case through its story and characters, with Nana Patekar playing a key role in the film. The project brings the story of the decades-old case to an international audience.
The film’s screening at the Toronto International Film Festival marks an important international platform for the project. Further details about its release and screening schedule are expected to be announced by the makers.
