HBO will premiere its eight-episode original comedy ‘Youth’, starring and written by Sharon Horgan, on September 20, with the first two episodes releasing together before the series moves to a weekly rollout.

The series follows a 50-year-old divorcee searching for sex and love while caring for her ailing parents and raising her son, whom she believes should be grown up by now. 

Horgan, according to a HBO statement, stars alongside Sharlene Whyte, Rupert Friend, Aran Murphy and Robbie Gee.

Produced by Merman, ‘Youth’ is created, written and executive produced by Horgan. Additional executive producers are Faye Dorn for Merman, Jim Kleverweis and Dawn Shadforth, who also directs.

The comedy centres on the pressures facing its protagonist as she navigates divorce, dating, family responsibilities and parenthood. 

The series also marks Horgan’s return to HBO following ‘Divorce’, which she created and executive produced.

Rupert Friend plays Patrick, while Whyte plays Alex’s friend and boss.

The first two episodes of ‘Youth’ will debut on HBO on Sunday, September 20, followed by one new episode each week.
