Netflix yesterday unveiled the trailer of ‘Gandhari’, an action thriller starring Taapsee Pannu as Bani, a mother who sets out to find her abducted daughter. The series will premiere on Netflix on September 3.

Pannu described Bani as one of her most physically demanding roles, saying she was drawn to the character’s “resilience, conviction and unwavering spirit”.

Set in the fictional town of Joypurra, ‘Gandhari’ follows Bani as she takes matters into her own hands after her daughter goes missing. Her search leads her into a world of hidden truths, mounting threats and unexpected allies.

The series is written and produced by Kanika Dhillon and directed by Devashish Makhija.

Ishwak Singh plays Gokul, a father dealing with his daughter’s disappearance, while Jatin Sarna plays Kabir, the officer leading the investigation.

Chhaya Kadam, Swastika Mukherjee and Mita Vashisht are also part of the cast.

“What stayed with me throughout ‘Gandhari’ was Bani’s refusal to give up, even when everything seemed stacked against her,” Pannu gushed.

Makhija said he was drawn to the opportunity to create “a mysterious, layered world that hasn’t been seen before on screen”, adding that beneath the suspense and action, the story explores human choices, consequences and the lengths people go to for those they love.

‘Gandhari’ premieres September 3 on Netflix.
