Classic Hindi film ‘Balika Badhu’ has completed 50 years, and Ultra Play OTT is inviting audiences to rediscover the film and its popular music, including the iconic song ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’.
Produced by filmmaker Shakti Samanta, ‘Balika Badhu’ was released in 1976 and starred Sachin Pilgaonkar and Rajni Sharma in the lead roles.
The film is based on Bengali writer Bimal Kar’s novel and follows a young couple as they grow from innocence towards a deeper understanding of companionship and marriage.
According to an Ultra Media & Entertainment Group press release, the film is also remembered for its music. R.D. Burman composed the soundtrack, while Anand Bakshi wrote the lyrics.
The album featured singers including Amit Kumar, Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhosle and Mohammed Rafi. ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’, sung by Amit Kumar, remains one of the film’s most popular songs.
With the film completing 50 years, Ultra Play is encouraging a new generation to explore the movie beyond its well-known song and discover its story, characters and portrayal of the social and cultural life of its time.
“At Ultra, we believe great cinema deserves to be discovered by every generation. ‘Balika Badhu’ is a wonderful example of a timeless film whose music, emotions and storytelling continue to invite audiences back,’ said Sushilkumar Agrawal, Founder and CEO, Ultra Media & Entertainment Group.
