Prime Video has announced that the second season of its reality show ‘The Traitors’ has become the platform’s No. 1 non-English title worldwide during its launch week.
The show premiered on August 13 and also entered the Top 10 Prime Original series globally. The strong response, according to the streamer, shows the growing popularity of Indian reality content among audiences in India and other countries.
“We are extremely happy with the response to Season 2,” said Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals, Prime Video (SVOD) and Amazon MGM Studios India.
He said the show has generated strong discussions on social media, with viewers choosing sides and supporting their favourite players.
Host and producer Karan Johar also praised the audience response. He said the first three episodes have kept viewers engaged with the show’s twists, betrayals, changing alliances and unpredictable eliminations.
The second season features 21 celebrity contestants from different fields, including Aaditya Kulshreshth (Kullu), Abhishek Malhan (Fukraa Insaan), Ansh Chopra, Dalip Tahil, Harman Singha, Ikka Singh, Karan Singh Magic, Krystle D’Souza, Mallika Sherawat, Munawar Faruqui, Parul Gulati, Prish, Ranveer Brar, Rhea Chakraborty, Rida Tharana, Sahil Salathia, Shahneel Gill, Shalini Passi, Shweta Tiwari, Soundous Moufakir and Tanya Puri.
Set at Suryagarh Palace, the show revolves around a game of trust, deception and betrayal. Some contestants are secretly selected as ‘Traitors’, while the remaining ‘Innocents’ must identify them before they are eliminated. The Traitors, meanwhile, must hide their identities and eliminate other players.
‘The Traitors’ Season 2 is produced by Dharmatic Entertainment in collaboration with independent distributor All3Media International. The series is based on IDTV’s BAFTA and Emmy Award-winning global format.
