JioHotstar’s long-running Tamil original ‘Resort’ has crossed 100 million watch hours, becoming the platform’s first fiction original to achieve the milestone.

Since its premiere, the show has built a strong audience with its relatable characters, emotional storytelling and consistent weekly episode format. The show has also attracted viewers from outside Tamil Nadu, with 47 percent of its total watch time coming from audiences outside the state.

According to a JioHotstar press release from Mumbai today,Tamil audiences contributed 53 percent of the total watch time. Hindi viewers accounted for 22 percent, Telugu viewers for 15 percent , while viewers from Malayalam and Kannada markets together contributed 10 percent.

JioHotstar said the milestone highlights its investment in the Long Running Shows format, which uses multiple weekly episode releases to build regular viewing habits and long-term audience engagement. Over the past year, the platform has been expanding its long-running shows across South India.

Krishnan Kutty, Head, Entertainment Business, South Cluster, JioStar, said the success of ‘Resort’ validates the platform’s Long Running Shows strategy. He also said the show’s strong viewership outside Tamil Nadu shows that authentic, culturally rooted stories can connect with audiences across different languages.

Directed by Praveen Bennet, ‘Resort’ stars Vijay Kumar Rajendran and Thalaivasal Vijay. The series follows Vetri, a housekeeping employee who dreams of becoming a chef while dealing with the ambitions, relationships and challenges behind the scenes of the fictional RR Resort.
