The multilingual folk-horror film ‘Bokshi’ will release in theatres across India on October 9, following an impressive run at several prestigious international film festivals.
According to a PTI report, directed by Bhargav Saikia and produced by Lorien Motion Pictures, the film had its world premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) 2025, where it received international attention.
‘Bokshi’ is the only Indian feature film to be officially selected for the 2025 editions of three major genre film festivals — the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival in Spain, the Neuchatel International Fantastic Film Festival in Switzerland and SXSW Sydney in Australia.
The achievement highlights the film’s growing recognition on the global festival circuit.
Blending elements of folklore and horror, ‘Bokshi’ has generated strong buzz among cinema enthusiasts for its unique storytelling and visual style.
The makers expect the nationwide release to bring the internationally acclaimed folk-horror film to a wider audience across the country.
